INTRODUCING RODSTRING & TUBING VIBRATOR
RML Rodstring and Tubing Vibrator
An innovative solution developed to address common issues with unseating rod bottom hole pumps (BHPs).
Key Benefits
Unseating rod bottom hole pumps (BHPs) often turns into a tubing move job due to issues like seizing, sand, or scale in the pump seat nipple (PSN). These problems exceed the corod rig’s capacity, causing rod shear failures. Shear pins, wellhead BOP ram bolts, and debris frequently get BHPs stuck, especially in deviated wells where full pull is impossible, requiring rod cutting and service rig intervention.
We introduced a concept that uses vibration (harmonic waves) to regain string movement. This method re-orients debris, channels fluid past sanded-off strings, and breaks down scale around BHP seating rings. The design, inspired by a guitar string, increases vibration frequency with tension. Abrupt tension changes generate spikes, enhancing downhole vibration. The stuck BHP acts like a tubing anchor, concentrating vibration at the stuck point with increased tension.
The RML Rodstring and Tubing Vibrator can be installed on all rod sizes and polished rods. Additionally, attachments are available to clamp onto tubing ranging from 60.3mm to 139.7mm, enabling the clearance of sand from bailer chamber joints during mudcanning or bailing operations.
For tubing work, the vibrator offers more than just vibrating sanded tubing joints. It can potentially free stuck tubing and reorient collars, catching on casing impairments. The device is also effective for coil tubing cement jobs, such as cementing geophones, where vibration can enhance cement bond quality.
